Does he just want me as a friend?

OK so i like this guy and we were texting. I told him i have a surprise for him. and he responds by saying like tangible? I said no... and he oh okay. then i said did you want it to be? he said i dont care. He always called me gorgeous and talks to me and wants a hug before i leave. But somtimes he talks about other girls but doesn't really do anything. Does he just want me as a friend?
