Muslims -Why 5000 Honor Killings Yearly according to UN?

Not only (Muslim) honor killings, but Acid in the face. India (Hindu) is also very high killings involving lack of female Dowry in Weddings. How can these Atrocities live in what is deemed to be religious environment in our world? These Honor killings are performed by male members of families. They have occurred in many countries including US and Canada. In home countries, most of the time no charges are filed. In the few cases where they are filed, the men get a couple years in prison.
