John Locke ( philosopher)?

John Locke's philosophies are what the US constitution is based off of. He believed that the government's power should come from the people, not the "sovereign" rights of the leaders. I can't really help you on the political reputation part, but I don't think he was liked during his time by the political leaders. He believed that they were tyrannical.
